Age Assessment: Practical Resources

At ISWS we are always striving to improve our assessments and have recently updated our practical resources to help us in our age assessments. They are designed as tools that social workers can use to gather information in a more trauma-informed, creative way, moving away from the traditional Q&A model.

Whats new?

  • After feedback, we have changed the emotion scale to use references of cats rather than dogs
  • We’ve now included some “confidence cards”. These are designed to help practitioners understand how much weight to add to individual pieces of evidence.

You can download your free copy of the guide and resource pack here Age Assessment Resources

Please do get in touch if you start using these and let us know how you get on, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
